Staff Development Award

The Staff Development Award Program provides full-time staff of UM System and University of Missouri-Columbia an opportunity to receive financial support toward activities for professional and personal development. Funding is available to selected applicants for conferences, workshops, short courses, or other appropriate short-term experiences.

  • As funding allows, there will be three award cycles per year coinciding with the start of the spring, summer, and fall semesters. The application window will open approximately six weeks ahead of each semester/award cycle. Current funding levels are $15,000 per cycle for this award.

  • Eligible applicants must be full time (>75% FTE) permanent University of Missouri-Columbia or UM System staff members, non-hospital, without academic appointment, who have successfully completed six months of continuous employment, and are in good standing with the university by the application deadline. Current Staff Development Award Review Committee members (including the SAC ex-officio) are not eligible to apply while serving their term.

  • Application deadlines for 2023

    • The application for summer activities has now closed. The deadline to submit was Monday, May 1 at 11:59 pm. The next round of applications is expected to open in mid-late summer.
