Congratulations Brent Unger, August Service Champion

August Service Champion Brent Unger “truly exemplifies the core values of MU” say his nominators Rebecca Bergfield and Lt. Col. Doherty. As an Administrative Assistant for the Air Force ROTC, one of Brent's duties is to stay on top of training needs for personnel, a task complicated by the fact that redeployment of personnel means an ever-changing group with ever-changing needs. His foresight extends beyond his own department as well; when requesting emergency preparedness information recently, Brent made the request for all of Crowder Hall, which includes ROTC units for the Army and Navy. Brent never fails to show courstesy and respect to students, parents, guests, and his fellow staff.

Currently a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves, Brent draws upon his service providing "positive encouragement,
critical decision-making information, and focused life-changing guidance to literally hundreds of students each semester."
Brent also provides a model of physical fitness for ROTC students, maintaining his own fitness level to the point that he made the Pike's Peak ascent and ran the Pike's Peak marathon in Colorado on consecutive days.

Brent's respect, responsibility, discovery and excellent work ethic are why he is an MU Service Champion.
