BARBARA S. UEHLING AWARD for Administration Excellence

This award was established in 1986 by the Staff Advisory Council to honor an administrator who has demonstrated qualities of leadership, administrative excellence, and in some way has contributed to improved working conditions and the quality of life for MU staff.  MU Chancellor Barbara S. Uehling (1978-86) who established the Staff Advisory Council was given the first award.  The award which consists of a plaque and $1000 will be presented at the annual Staff Recognition Week awards ceremony.

This award will be presented to the individual judged by the committee to be the person best representing excellence as offered in the nomination material in accordance with the eligibility requirements listed below.

Eligibility Requirements: 

Nominee must be full-time (75%+) staff holding an executive, administrative, or managerial title (EEO Occupational Group 101 or 102 and/or University Occupational Group code 10, levels 11, 12, 13, or 14,) employed with the University for six months and not on probation during the selection process. Address questions regarding eligibility to the Staff Council Office at 882-4269.  PLEASE NOTE: employees of the Hospitals and Clinics are not eligible for these awards.  These employees should be nominated for the Hospitals and Clinics internal awards.


How to Nominate an MU Staff Member

  1. Complete and sign the Nomination form linked below.
  2. Nominations must be submitted on the proper form.  A Word version of the form is available for completion on the computer.  Handwritten submissions should use the pdf version (requires Acrobat Reader).
  3. One additional sheet of paper (front and back) will be accepted.
  4. Additional support letters, statements, or other information will not be accepted.
  5. Please give specific examples of qualifications that meet the criteria for nomination.
  6. Information on this form must be LEGIBLE (printed or typed) in order to be considered.
  7. The nominator must sign the nomination form.

The nomination information will be reviewed for eligibility and content.
Finalists will be determined.  Interviews will be conducted to complete the selection process.  (Finalists must be present at the designated interview time). Submit nomination by deadline in an envelope marked “Uehling Award” to: Staff Council, 27 Jesse Hall.
